Key information
Hunter x Hunter creator Yoshihiro Togashi announced on X that he will decline all future work commissions that carry a deadline once he finishes his currently accepted tasks. He explained that recurring physical and mental health issues prompted this decision, allowing him to prioritize creating his own manga manuscripts.
The manga has experienced numerous hiatuses over the years due to Togashi's health. In 2022, he disclosed severe back pain that prevented him from sitting in a chair for approximately two years, forcing him to change his drawing methods and take several times longer than average for daily tasks.
To accommodate his condition, the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department shifted the series away from traditional weekly serialization starting with chapter 401, avoiding the use of official hiatus labels in the magazine.
Togashi stated he will announce when manuscript production restarts. Fans responded with widespread support, urging him to prioritize his health and expressing gratitude for his ongoing work on the series.
