Rockstar Games shared details about the development of Grand Theft Auto VI in an interview with the British fashion and culture magazine LOVE. The open-world action-adventure game is scheduled for global release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The game follows a criminal duo, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, in Leonida's Vice City, modeled after Miami, Florida. The team aimed to balance realism and convenience to create an immersive environment where players can inhabit a virtual world.
To capture local culture, developers conducted field research by driving around Miami and taking a helicopter over the Everglades. They also incorporated specialized writers for pedestrian dialogue, advertisements, and comedy to ensure non-player characters feel like protagonists in their own stories.
The American Dream remains a central theme, reframed around modest aspirations like paying off a mortgage, which remain out of reach for many. The standard edition is priced at NT$2320 and the ultimate edition at NT$2900.
