Taiwanese independent game developer maJAJa announced that the sequel Dungeon Munchies 2 will launch in early access on November 16, accompanied by a new gameplay trailer. The development team aims to gather player feedback during the early access phase to refine game mechanics and meet player expectations.

The original Dungeon Munchies debuted in early access in 2019 before its official release in 2022 on Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS, earning overwhelming acclaim on Steam. Dungeon Munchies 2 continues the side-scrolling action formula combining combat, leveling, looting, and adventure story elements.

In the sequel, players control a zombie chef summoned by the necromancer boss to explore alien colony ruins and research extraterrestrial monster dishes. Main artist and writer Scofa noted that the story follows the first game's ending, allowing the protagonist to retain abilities like double jump and aerial dash from the start.

Significant changes in Dungeon Munchies 2 include a randomized growth system adding randomized loot-based ability drops alongside the fixed story progression, as well as a new class selection system replacing the previous weapon system. Each class now features four active skills and expanded combination options.
