Sega and Creative Assembly have unveiled an overview video for the upcoming Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition. This release, scheduled for October 13, aims to modernize the classic strategy experience while maintaining its original design.

Technical enhancements include a transition to 64-bit architecture for improved stability and support for 1440p, 4K, and ultra-wide resolutions with UI scaling. Visuals have been overhauled with updated textures, 3D models, lighting, and modern rendering techniques, alongside new 2.5D campaign cutscenes inspired by ukiyo-e art.

Gameplay mechanics see significant updates, including adjustable Realm Divide settings, a new quick diplomacy feature, and over 50 playable minor factions. Battlefield controls have been modernized with refined hotkeys and a new bird's-eye view, while accessibility is improved through customizable UI, color presets, and expanded language support.

Existing owners of the original game will receive all DLC, excluding the Blood Pack due to age rating restrictions. A limited-time loyalty discount is available for the Complete Edition. The original version remains playable and compatible with existing mods.
