Key information

Studio K Games announced that a free playable demo for their upcoming forensic mystery visual novel Bone to Pick will launch on Steam on October 8. The demo will also be featured in the Steam Next Fest starting on October 19, while the full version is scheduled for release in early 2027.

Players step into the shoes of a new intern at a forensic research institute in Washington, D.C., tasked with identifying anonymous remains alongside a diverse cast of specialists including FBI agents, forensic anthropologists, and a search dog named Biscuit. Gameplay combines visual novel dialogue with crime scene investigations, suspect interrogations, and fourteen distinct forensic minigames.

The title features stylized artwork and avoids realistic gore, presenting scientifically grounded procedures designed to be accessible to players without professional medical backgrounds. Developers noted that colleagues offer helpful advice when players struggle to determine age, gender, or injury origins from skeletal remains.

The free demo allows players to experience the entire first case involving a vehicle explosion in Washington, D.C., with save data transferring to the full game. The complete version will contain seven cases priced at 159 New Taiwan Dollars or 42 Hong Kong Dollars, featuring a launch discount of 10 percent and support for ten languages including Traditional Chinese, English, and Japanese.
