Producer Takeshi Yamanaka has announced that Phoenix Cyclops will join the roster of Marvel Fighting Souls as the first DLC character on October 12. This version of Scott Summers, inspired by the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline, features a unique combat style that blends optic blasts with the destructive power of the Phoenix Force.
The character functions as an all-rounder capable of both long-range zoning and close-quarters combat. Players can accumulate a Phoenix Force gauge called Solar Shards by landing optic blasts. Upon collecting four shards, Cyclops transforms into his Dark Phoenix form, gaining significant power at the cost of gradually depleting health.
To accommodate fans of traditional designs, the developer is releasing "Classic" and "Legacy" DLC costumes alongside the character. Additionally, PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to a three-hour game trial starting October 12 and a special pack containing the base roster and an "Old School Color" variant for Phoenix Cyclops.
Players can purchase the game at a discount starting October 7 on the PlayStation Store. Attendees of EVO France, held from October 9 to 11, will have the opportunity to play as Phoenix Cyclops before the official release.
