An editorial conversation starter inspired by a published Balatro review. Simple presentation can still leave room for interesting choices.
Name a game you played for a long time. What kept you returning?
• Changing decisions and situations
• Gradually mastering the controls
• Freedom to solve problems your own way
• Memories with other players
Games whose appearance initially put you off are welcome. So are examples where you liked the systems but struggled with the visuals or audio.
This is not an argument that simple graphics are always better or large-budget games are worse. Tell us what stayed with you.
