Xbox has confirmed that the Disc to Digital program is officially live for all Xbox owners as of September 29, 2026. The initiative allows players to convert most physical Xbox Series X and Xbox One discs into digital licenses.
To use the feature, players insert the physical disc into the console, select claim on the resulting prompt, and unlock a digital license that supports Xbox Play Anywhere and other features across devices. For multi-disc games, only the first disc supports claiming the digital license, and add-ons included on the disc can also grant the respective digital content license.
The digital license becomes tied to the console so the physical disc is no longer required, and moving the disc to another console transfers the license accordingly. Users have also reported successfully claiming digital licenses from physical copies of previously delisted games like Deadpool, although not all delisted titles work.
