Atomic Mass Games has introduced the Winter Guard Affiliation Pack for the Marvel Crisis Protocol tabletop game. This set features four iconic characters inspired by Soviet-themed comic book lore: Red Guardian, Darkstar, Crimson Dynamo, and the mutant Ursa Major, who possesses the ability to transform into a bear.
The expansion emphasizes team synergy through specific mechanics. Players can utilize cards like Dark Aura Manifestation to lower enemy defense, Sovereign Strike to destroy size 4 terrain, and Winter Rush to mobilize the squad toward damaged opponents. Crimson Dynamo serves as the leader, offering the Unbreakable Red Line power to clear special conditions.
Reviewer feedback highlights the physical design of the miniatures. The Ursa Major model is noted for its dynamic pose, while Red Guardian includes a dedicated base. Although the reviewer appreciates the aesthetic of the floating Darkstar figure, they expressed a general preference for less delicate models.
The boxed set totals 14 threat, allowing players to reach a 20-threat team by incorporating additional characters such as Black Widow, Winter Soldier, or a 6-threat option like Hulk. The pack includes all necessary character and team cards for immediate play.
