The animated project Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is scheduled for release in 2028. This announcement was made during a Crunchyroll panel at New York Comic Con on October 8, 2026, where attendees were shown exclusive early footage of the production.
Based on the online multiplayer mode from the action-adventure game Ghost of Tsushima by Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sucker Punch Productions, the anime reimagines the story of the Ghost. Set during the late thirteenth century, the narrative follows the Mongol invasion of Tsushima and the emergence of the Ghost, a figure resurrected from the underworld to defend the island.
The production features a notable creative team, including director Takanobu Mizuno and animation studio Kamikaze Douga. The series composition and script are handled by Gen Urobuchi and Ken Maekawa of Nitroplus, while character designs are provided by Emmy Award winner Takashi Okazaki. The project also features music by Keiji Inai, sound direction by Miwa Iwanami, and sound effects by Yasumasa Koyama.
Additional production details include the title calligraphy by Gyosho Suzuki. Cast members Mayumi Sako and Shinsha Fukumatsu have been confirmed for the project. Produced by HAYATE with the cooperation of PlayStation Productions, the anime remains in active development.
