Independent developer Tic Tac Toe Digital and publisher Kwalee have released a free demo for their upcoming firearm simulation title, Ballistic.exe. Since its arrival on the Steam platform on October 9, the demo has garnered an overwhelmingly positive reception from players.
The core gameplay loop involves assembling and modifying firearms within a simulation environment before testing them at a firing range. Players earn funds by hitting targets, allowing them to purchase advanced components to upgrade their weapons from basic configurations into high-performance custom builds.
The game features a complex control scheme that separates gun movement from muzzle aiming, requiring players to utilize both WASD keys and the mouse for dual-axis targeting. Furthermore, the simulation incorporates realistic ballistics where muzzle velocity is determined by factors like gunpowder load, bullet shape, and barrel length. Environmental variables such as wind, gravity, humidity, temperature, the Coriolis effect, and the Magnus effect also influence the trajectory of fired rounds.
The full version of Ballistic.exe is scheduled for release on Steam in 2027. It is expected to include dozens of weapons and over 1,000 distinct components, including triggers, stocks, and optics, alongside more than 200 ammunition types. Interested users can currently download the demo or add the title to their wishlist.
