Critical Role has partnered with indie studio LICHTHUND to act as co-publisher for the upcoming narrative-driven rock management RPG ROCKBEASTS. Following its involvement with DISPATCH launched in October 2025, Critical Role continues expanding its interactive entertainment presence with this project, which is scheduled to release in 2027.
The title transports users to an alternative 1990s America, tasking them with guiding a grunge band from garage obscurity toward stadium fame. Gameplay blends hands-on band management, narrative role-playing systems, and rhythm-based performances, requiring managers to handle finances, maintain equipment, book gigs, schedule rehearsals, and navigate industry challenges.
Bartek Pieczonka, Creative Director at LICHTHUND, stated that Critical Role helps deliver the full stadium treatment for the project. Ben Van Der Fluit, SVP of Business and Content Development at Critical Role, noted that the title connects with their audience through character-driven, funny, and emotional elements.
The collaboration brings Critical Role cast members into the voice cast alongside Iggy Pop. Written by Jakub Szamałek, the project features a hand-drawn art style inspired by adult animation and seventeen original grunge and alternative rock tracks. The game won Excellence in Audio at the DevGAMM Awards and is wishlisted on Steam ahead of its 2027 launch.
