Epic Games has reportedly delayed an unannounced shooter featuring Star Wars and Marvel characters. According to Bloomberg, the project was originally slated for a March release but was pushed back to align with a new internal launch strategy.

The studio is reportedly encouraging developers to utilize AI tools, such as Anthropic’s Claude assistant, for production. Internal communications suggest a shift away from hand-written code, with directives indicating that project art should be generated through AI-based workflows.

Epic’s director of communications, Jake Jones, stated the company is adopting AI-accelerated development led by its creative teams. However, reports indicate that this heavy reliance on AI has left many developers perplexed, as the project faces slower progress than initially anticipated.

CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed a major reorganization to prioritize AI development, aiming to produce content faster and improve gameplay testing. This initiative follows Disney’s 1.5 billion dollar investment in Epic Games in 2024, though the final release date and platform details for the shooter remain unclear.
