Minisforum has introduced the MS-S1 MAX-P495, a new workstation designed to advance the company's local AI computing strategy. This system aims to support edge environments by facilitating local large-model processing, data privacy, and low-latency performance.

The device is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor, which utilizes the Zen 5 architecture. It features 16 cores, 32 threads, and clock speeds reaching 5.2 GHz. The integrated Radeon 8065S Graphics contributes to a total AI compute capacity of 131 TOPS, with 55 TOPS derived from the NPU.

A significant upgrade over the previous 395 model is the memory capacity, which now reaches 192 GB of unified memory and 160 GB of allocatable VRAM. This allows the system to run 300B-class large language models locally, such as DeepSeek V4 Flash 284B, which achieved approximately 12 tok/s in testing.

The MS-S1 MAX-P495 supports scalable deployments, including dual-system clusters and 2U rack configurations. A four-system setup was tested running DeepSeek-R1 671B Q4. The unit is available for pre-order at US$7,399, reflecting a 20% discount from the US$9,249 regular price, with shipping scheduled for mid-October.
