Pokémon X and Y are marking their 13th anniversary today, having originally launched worldwide on October 12, 2013, for the Nintendo 3DS.
These titles were notable for being the first entries in the series to receive a simultaneous global release. They also served as the franchise's debut on the Nintendo 3DS hardware.
The games introduced fully polygonal 3D graphics and new gameplay mechanics. Their influence on the series is significant enough that they inspired the upcoming title Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is slated for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
As many fans currently advocate for easier access to classic titles, there is interest in seeing these games become available on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms.
