Recent leaks from social media user zed__wang claim that Nvidia is discontinuing its flagship RTX 5090 graphics card. The leaker asserts that future supplies of the GB202 GPU die will be reserved exclusively for Nvidia RTX Pro products.
The GB202 die powers various workstation and data center GPUs. Nvidia may prioritize these over the RTX 5090, as professional cards like the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell command prices near $18,000, significantly higher than the current $9,000 market price for the RTX 5090 on Newegg.
Despite these claims, Nvidia has not officially commented on the status of the card. The author notes that similar rumors regarding the RTX 5070 Ti in February proved false, suggesting that production might simply be slowing down rather than ceasing entirely due to VRAM prioritization for data centers.
Since its January 2025 launch at $1,999, the RTX 5090 has seen its price climb toward $10,000. If production were to stop, it would primarily affect prebuilt gaming PCs, which currently offer more competitive pricing than purchasing the standalone GPU. With no new generation expected until 2028, high-end GPU affordability remains uncertain.
