NVIDIA has announced a faster performance mode for its frame generation technology, designed for GeForce RTX 40 series, RTX 50 series GPUs, and the upcoming RTX Spark platform.
The technology utilizes two AI models to analyze motion between rendered frames and calculate optical flow for UI or ray tracing elements. The new performance mode implements a faster, lighter algorithm for the latter process.
NVIDIA notes that while this mode slightly compromises image quality, it effectively increases frame generation rates. On a GeForce RTX 5060, the company reports that this mode can improve generation rates by 35%.
Users can access this feature by enabling experimental updates in the NVIDIA App. After installing version 11.0.9.565, the performance mode is available by selecting 'Preset C' under the 'Frame Generation' option in the DLSS override settings.
