A leaker with a history of accurate predictions suggests Nvidia is shifting production focus away from its flagship RTX 5090 consumer graphics cards. The report indicates that the company intends to prioritize RTX Pro hardware instead, potentially signaling a move to favor the lucrative GenAI developer and datacenter markets over traditional PC gaming consumers.
The claim originates from MEGAsizeGPU, who previously correctly identified Nvidia's naming conventions for Ti and Super GPU models. According to this source, as reported by Digital Foundry, the supply of GB202 GPU dies is being redirected toward the RTX Pro product line rather than being utilized for the upcoming 5090 series.
Nvidia has not officially confirmed this production shift. The RTX Pro platform is marketed by the company as a solution for professional AI, rendering, and compute workloads. These cards are designed to handle complex tasks such as fine-tuning large language models and running local AI assistants, which the company describes as essential for modern enterprise computing.
If true, this development could further strain the availability of hardware for regular consumers. The tech industry is already facing a memory crisis, with chip manufacturers prioritizing AI-focused hardware, leading to increased costs for RAM, SSDs, and graphics cards. This market pressure is expected to persist for at least the next year.
