Creative Assembly has released patch 9.0.3 for Total War Warhammer 3, addressing player feedback regarding the Nagash campaign and broader game balance. The developer acknowledged that the Undead Legions' current progression and economy were not meeting expectations, prompting a series of adjustments to improve the overall experience.
The update introduces meaningful goals to the Black Pyramid progression, including early upkeep reductions for Nagash and other undead factions. Additionally, Necropolises now offer enhanced benefits such as improved garrisons and movement bonuses. Mortarch subjugation objectives have been shifted from restrictive location-specific tasks to thematic goals, and players can now force submission through power scaling rather than manual hunting. These specific campaign changes require a fresh-start save file to take effect.
Wider balance changes include an overhaul of the Lore of Nehekhara, with adjustments to spells like Ptra's Incantation and Usirian's Incantation. Unit balance has also been addressed, with nerfs to Undead Handmaidens' knockback and Skaven missile resistance. Conversely, Empire units like the Teutogen Guard received buffs, alongside various tweaks to Chaos Dwarf and other faction units to better align with developer intentions.
Patch 9.0.3 is available now. While this update addresses several pressure points, Creative Assembly stated that further fixes are already in development for future releases. The developer continues to encourage players to submit feedback and bug reports through official channels.
