Ember Lab announced that Kena: Scars of Kosmora is scheduled to launch in 2027. The development team stated that the release was pushed to ensure the title exceeds the quality of their 2021 debut, Bridge of Spirits, with a much bigger scale and added polish for the expanded experience.
The game maintains a character-focused linear adventure structure similar to the first title, though featuring a broader and deeper scope that rewards players who explore off the beaten path. Kena is portrayed as a Spirit Guide fighting Corruption caused by spirits unable to move on peacefully.
Kena seeks answers about her past and future on the mysterious island of Kosmora alongside her childhood friend Orfio. Kosmora features complex Spirit Guide dungeons tied to Alchemystic Temples and four elements that once powered four interconnected cultures before a cataclysm struck.
Kena will also navigate the island using a crystalline canine companion. This ancient spirit functions as a mount, assists in combat during mounted and on foot segments, and helps solve Alchemystic puzzles. The title will release digitally and physically on PS5, and digitally on PC.
