Gigabyte has announced plans to support upcoming Intel processors on its existing LGA 1700 motherboard lineup. A new BIOS update is currently being rolled out for B760 and H610 models, allowing users to upgrade to these future CPUs without needing to replace their current hardware. The launch for these processors is expected in early 2027.
The update maintains compatibility for both DDR4 and DDR5 memory variants. This decision is significant for budget-conscious builders, as it allows for the continued use of existing DDR4 memory amid rising costs. However, the current announcement excludes other LGA 1700-compatible boards, such as the Z690, Z790, and B660 series.
While Gigabyte has not provided specific SKUs or technical specifications, the 2027 release window aligns with reports regarding a potential Raptor Lake Next lineup. This series is rumored to be a third refresh of the Raptor Lake architecture. Intel VP Robert Hallock previously noted that the company intends to keep offering DDR4 support on the LGA 1700 platform to provide users with more flexible upgrade options.
Speculation suggests these processors might adopt Core 200 branding. Unverified leaks from tipster Jaykihn indicate a range of models, including a 20-core Core 7 and various Core 5 and Core 3 configurations with differing power ratings. These details remain unconfirmed by official Intel announcements.
