Epic Games has reportedly delayed an untitled extraction shooter featuring Marvel and Star Wars characters. Originally scheduled for a March release, the project is now postponed to an unspecified date as the studio shifts its development strategy.

The development team received instructions to adopt an AI-first production model. This mandate includes a directive to avoid hand-written code and to utilize full AI workflows for art generation, according to internal communications from a project director.

CEO Tim Sweeney stated the company is retooling for maximum AI acceleration to enable teams to build more content. Communications director Jake Jones confirmed the studio is embracing AI-accelerated development, emphasizing that human developers remain the creative drivers.

The shift has faced public backlash, with Sweeney arguing that the company must adapt to the current AI landscape. Meanwhile, former Fortnite producer Aahkash Gupta noted that AI integration is becoming standard, citing that many developers already utilize AI agents in their daily workflows.
