SpaceRocket Games has released Permafrost, a survival game set in a post-catastrophic world where a shattered moon has plunged Earth into an endless, freezing winter. Players assume the role of a former engineer named Rook, who must navigate a desolate landscape filled with extreme weather, hypothermia risks, and hostile raiders.
A central mechanic involves a canine companion that scouts for danger, carries supplies, and can be trained to locate specific materials. Beyond solo play, the game supports cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, allowing users to tackle the harsh environment together.
The developer intends to keep the title in early access for at least 12 months. Future updates are slated to introduce overhauled combat animations, additional firearms, armor sets, and expanded crafting recipes. The team also plans to refine environmental destructibility and weather effects over time.
Permafrost is currently available on Steam. A 20% launch discount is active until Friday October 23, pricing the game at $19.99 or £17.59. The developer noted that the price will likely increase as the project approaches its 1.0 release to reflect the added content.
